The opening of the Big Dam Bridge in September 2006 changed the face of bicycling in central Arkansas.

Richard Machycek, owner of Arkansas Cycling & Fitness, also credits the Big Dam Bridge for sparking interest in cycling.

"People feel better about riding a bike if they feel safe," he said.
