AAA Warns, Buy the Right Bike
With retailers offering deep discounts, it might be hard to resist buying your child that bike they've been begging for... but don't buy one that's too big. AAA warns against letting your child "grow into" a bike.
Bicycles are to blame for more injuries than any other product, and experts say that's because lots of bikes are just too big.
"It's going to be uncomfortable and the fun factor's going to drop but the danger factor's going to go up, they're going to be more likely to get hurt and they're simply not going to have as much fun riding their bike,” says Richard Machycek with Arkansas Cycling and Fitness.
Experts it's always good to let kids try a bike before buying one.
It's also a good idea to get them checked out at a specialty bike store to make sure they were assembled properly.
